Hey so I travel alot for work and internet is always bad will a traveling router work in hotels that need you to authenticate in your browser to connect?

You would probably need to connect via a mobile device then (if the function exists on the travel router) change the MAC on the routers WAN interface to match your mobiles wireless NICS MAC. (This should then allow you to pass through any captive portal they have). This will only give you better WIFI, the connection behind is what it is.

If the hotel has an existing Ethernet connection then you could turn it into a wireless hotspot using a device like HooToo Wireless Travel Router, TP-Link N300 router or RAVPower FileHub, Travel Router AC750.

There are also WiFi-to-WiFi bridge devices (RAVPower FileHub, Travel Router AC750), which allows you to tap into a hotel WiFi hotspot and at the same time creates its own Wi-Fi network. This device comes handy when there isn't an Ethernet connection available.

Not sure what function you think a travel router will provide. It likely will not give you a better signal. This is hard to say it depends on how good the antenna etc in your portable device is compared to the router. Many modern laptops have very good antenna and nic cards.

Now if your goal is to get around some of the limitation of the authentication systems a router might help. In most cases you can have the router connect to the network. Then take your PC and access the network and get past the hotel authentication. You can then hook whatever you like to the router and it will all appear to be coming from the same device. The hotel could likely prevent you from doing this but generally they don't care as long as you do not share the connection with other people.
