Treid overclocking, now its underclocked

i have a q9550 2.83ghz cpu, i tried overclocking the cpu to get around 3.0ghz but in the bios it says its 2.0ghz, im obvoiusly not any good at overclocking but is there any way i can get it back to the original 2.83ghz? im using a p7n platinum mobo

OR if youve totally given up on overclocking then you can take the CMOS battery out of your mobo for 30secs then put it back and all the settings will be default. Some mobo's have an option in the BIOS for resetting defaults.
