So I have an X58 motherboard and installed is 3x2gb sticks of ddr3 ram. I want an upgrade of the ram, and I was wondering if I should go for another set of 3x2 gb, or should i get a set of 2x4 gb, which would remove the tri-memory option, reverting back to dual I believe? Does anyone have any advice on this?

Solution
IF looking to go to 8GB then a 2x4GB set will be fine, basically saying don't plan on mixing new with your old, no guarantees they will play nice. Get a set of the full amount you want/need.
