hi i recently bought a whole new PC, and ordered my CPU last, when i realised i had spent almost all of the budget (a lot of it on the three wal sli gtx 580), i bought this AMD sempron:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103698

but i am hardly getting 40 FPS, in games like BFBC 2, this is not an issue with other people with the samer GPU,

do i need to quad SLI my rig by buying another gtx 580, or is this a CPU issue/ mobo issue, im really not sure

thanks,

2500k??, my parents gave me a budget, and i heard that the GPU makes all the differencce when it comes to gaming performance, so i went all out on the GPU, i never thought the CPU affects gaming, does it have much/any effect on gaming??

Tri-SLI GTX580 + Sargas 140 = Super bottleneck
As Psycho has said, save for a Thuban and use 1 video board for now.
It is very silly to have that setup or was this a joke-thread?

I agree with everyone else about the CPU, but I still think your fps should be at least a little higher. Have you enabled SLI in the Nvidia control panel?

Assuming you're still within the RMA period, I would suggest returning one of the 580s and the Sempron for refund, and purchasing a much more powerful CPU. A nice Phenom II X4 975 or an X6 would work wonders for the remaining two 580s in SLI.

I couldnt even imagine using a sempron. LOL it would be like going back into the stone age. I agree, I would sell one card and the CPU or RMA and get your money back, purchase a 1090t, overclock it to 4GHz, and use the rest of the money for an SSD. 2 GTX 580 are enough for any game that is out and any game that is coming out for a while, there is no need for 3 other than to say you have 3, and some monster benchmark scores.

This has got to be a joke. LOL

Wow they gave you a budget but they were willing to buy 3 GTX 580's? I would return one of the GTX 580's and get a good P67 motherboard and the i5 2500k or i7 2600k. 3 GTX 580's is overkill..What res are you playing on?

even the 5870 dropped to 170usd the other day. Clever from nvidia if they drop it to 399 with the release of Amds 6990 card

yeah i love my 5870gpu but it's in my laptop lol Asus G73, but im really curious what the price will be on the GTX 570's...hopefully $250 :) 2 GTX 570's in SLI are very fast...I don't see the GTX 570 staying at $350 if the 580 is dropping to $399.99...

GPU does equal good gaming, it's just that you need a CPU that can keep up. BTW, don't go with a Phenom II x6 1100T, the extra cores don't make a difference in gaming. A Phenom II x4 970 Black Edition would be a good choice, and the best choice would be to RMA the motherboard too and get a P67 motherboard and a i5-2500K.

Yes you can get a good cpu and motherboard for that price..

I bought my i5 2500k $179.99 at Fry's Electronics since they do price matching with microcenter. Paid the extra 2 year exchange warranty on the motherboard and cpu for extra $40 so it's like i got the i5 2500k for regular price with a 2 year warranty. You should check your local component stores to see if they have that cpu and if they do price matching.

just buy another GTX 580 and a mobo that supports quad SLI...

ok thanks, was getting worried about a new CPU, intel, motherboard, i dunno, but ive ordered another GTX 580, and my friend says he will order a new quad sli motherboard for me he said all i have to do is order this CPU:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103903

so everythings ordered, hopefully i can play Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars in really high detail at around 45-50 fps now, that would be really cool.

thanks all for your help!
