My character is a male high elf and tall. There are other places an altmer
has problems with height. I cannot get him through the rockslide blasted
open with a satchel. I have gone here before with other characters but he
is no go. Any ideas anyone.

Have you tried Sneak mode? Your character crouches just a little
while Sneaking and that just might do the trick.

Sometimes sneaking helps. Sometimes not.

In worst case, open the console and do:

tai (toggle ai off)
tcl (toggle collison off)

walk...

tai (toggle ai on)
tcl (toggle collision on)

Why toggle AI, too? Because when there are NPCs in the cell who are
wandering, during collision-off they might walk through some wall. So
toggling AI off will temporary make them stop moving.

I had similar problems in other areas, I found no other way to pass them
without switching collision off temporary. No idea how Xbox users are
supposed to do that. Start a new game as bosmer?

In addition to the suggestions in teh other postings
(ie, use sneak or the sonsole cheat) you may want to
try the following:

Wearing some sheilds seems to increase the characters'
bounding box: unequip your sheild. Certain helms
may or may now also cause trouble (The orcish helm
with the antenna thingies on it maybe?). Make sure your
weapon isn't out (in hand, visable) when you try to walk
through: my character has had trouble in tight spots
with her big claymore.

Hope that helps.

I was able to get through just by jumping a lot. But then, I had 300 Speed,
maxed Athletics, and nearly maxed Acrobatics at the time. (Now completely
maxed, +10 from Marara's Ring.) It was a definite glitch in the program,
that I made it through, however, I think, because my head went through the
ceiling and I could see the entire map from the outside. I had the distinct
impression I wasn't supposed to be there at that time, since nobody had
actually told me to do that quest. What can I say, I'm a rebel...

Wait - what's this "satchel" you speak of? Wow, I definitely wasn't
supposed to have done that part yet, I'll bet...

Hmm.... that's interesting. I was just wondering, is there any disadvantage
to being short? Like say, if you happen to be a wood-elf?

I thought those passages were like a door to another region where you
clicked on it, it asked you if you wanted to go through the passage, and
then you were through it to the next section. No walking or worrying
about the height.

Bosmer can jump and see well--if they know they need to.
There are swords in the guardhouses?

Bosmers have problems too. They can't see the propylon index on the high

Thanks Peter and others for suggestions. Will try them. At one point I was
in an all black area but could see the passages leading up to the rockslide.
Is this normal? My altmer has problems with falling through the floor in
Tribunal. Since he can't levitate in the city he walks on water until he
gets back on land.

Also how far away is the forge? When I was in the black and moving, I
walked and walked in all directions without seeing anything but the passages
I had been through.

What is a propylon? There are swords in the guardhouses? Well, I guess I
better start jumping around....

Propylon Indeces are rather small, and dark grey, so they're usually hard to
see. (They look like a Lesser or Petty Soul Gem in shape.) It's not likely
you'll find too many of them without somebody telling you where to look. I
only found two (Falensarano and Rotheran) before I had to consult a guide,
and I must say, I don't think I would have ever found any of the other eight
otherwise. (Well, maybe I'd have found Hlormaren's eventually, but not all
that likely.) I understand there's a mod where you get a quest to search
for them all, and are actually told where to look, and once you get them you
can convert them all into 1 Master Index to save inventory space. I may
just do that...

Yes, its one of the official Bethsoft plugins rather than a home-made
mod.

I like those, kinda Samurai-looking.

Glass helms are a problem too. Especially when you've got maxed Acrobatics
on a character who's abnormally tall to start with - the Nord. Half the
time when I jump indoors, I get my head actually stuck in the ceiling.
Usually walking forward a bit gets me unstuck, but a couple of times I've
had to do a TCL in the console to extricate myself. I do prefer jumping to
flying, however. I've got an Enchanted CE Levitate ring I made, mostly just
to navigate Telvanni towers, but almost everywhere else, I rely on my super
jumping abilities. I also made a CE Jump ring, which is much more fun than
the Levitate Ring. Levitation just feels like cheating sometimes, and you
also tend to get stuck in places with low ceilings, just trying to walk
around. Jumping feels more natural, and once you've got enough Endurance,
plus my CE Restore Health amulet to cancel out the damage from falling, it
can be a real blast. My new favorite sport is mid-air archery. I'll get to
a really tall mountain somewhere, jump over a creature on the ground and try
to hit it with an arrow. Or even more fun, shooting Cliff Racers in mid
air. Bonus points if you fall along with the body, search it and retrieve
your arrow before either of you hits the ground.

the propylons are an old dunmer travel- or teleportation system. There are
8 big
dunmer strongholds similar in style and architectures. They each has a
propylon
hut with a teleporter. they are reached with the proper propylon index. A
few
mods uses these. "Callenwald" and "master index" eg.
