Hi All

i7-8700k on Aorus Z370 Gaming 7 @ 5.0GHz
2 x 8gb Trident Z F4-4133C19D-16GTZ

  • Latest BIOS F14
  • Overclocked CPU at 5GHz (Memory XMP disabled) - EK Custom water loop. Temps low and system stable (AIDA64 Stress Test CPU, FPU, cache, sys mem ) + 24 hours.
  • Added XMP profile. 1st Boot, AIDA64 stopped stress test automatically after 5 seconds. "Hardware error"
  • Reboot - won't post at all. Goes back to last known good config (2 Bios updates ago - F12) - Why is it rolling back? I have prior good saved configs on mobo with F14?!
  • Had to re-flash F14.
  • Same issue from start to finish.

3rd time's a charm. So this time...
  • OC to 5.0GHz again (no XMP)
  • This time set XMP manually as per XMP profile. (1.35v, 4133MHz, XMP CAS settings)
  • System is stable now over 24 hours on AIDA64 same stresses.

WHY???

Thanks for the response. I'm happy! :)

You know, I hadn't considered the G.Skill list to see.
But it's very much on the mobo QVL

I wonder if due to issues, G.Skill removed it from their data base. Could be since the mobo is a pdf and may never have been updated.

I will check Memtest86 to see if it's stable too.

If not, I might try dropping my clock speeds on my 4133 sticks, since rated higher, to 3866 with the same tighter timings of the 3866 that are on the G.Skill QVL for my mobo (18-19-19-39)
