Hello, I am having trouble figuring if the following ram is compatible with the motherboard I am planning to buy for my future pc build. The ram is Trident z rgb 2x16gb 3200mhz cl16 ("f4-3200c16d-32gtzr(x)"). I searched in G.skill's site and both versions (with and without x on the end) are showing x470 in qvl but only the Msi x470 Gaming M7. My motherboard will be the Msi X470 gaming Pro carbon. On the other hand in pc part picker, I added all my stuff and everything is compatible. Could someone help me? Is there any chance the 32gb 3200mhz cl16 don't run nice on the Msi x470 gaming pro carbon???

Nobody will know until you try them on that MB.

But according to the gskill site, that RAM ( f4-3200c16d-32gtzrx) is for AMD, http://www.gskill.com/qvl/165/167/1536718734/F4-3200C16D-32GTZRX-Qvl and like you said other MSI x470 is in their QVL so that the RAM should be compatible with your MB, Msi X470 gaming Pro carbon. I think the gskill does not test it with that RAM, because they can't test all the MB, then put the MB in their QVL.

Ok thanks. I thought that too. Because the same ram sticks (same speed 3200mhz and same latency cl16) but in 16gb is supported by all X470 including this one I want. Lastly, should I get the version with x or not. Because the price difference is about 15-20€ and both have in qvl 1 x470 (and x570)?

Pretty sure the X at the end is marketed as "For AMD" I dont think there's really a difference, I've used ram that's "for intel" on ryzen builds and vice versa and had no problems. Either way they're both the same hynix ram, X doesn't mean they're higher quality samsung b-die ram modules.

Ok. Last question: is hynix good? I don't know about these (hynix, samsung, b-die etc). I 've heard that I should prefer Samsung b-die but it's much more expensive. For example: the Trident z rgb 3200 cl16 (not Samsung) costs 115€ (with x) and the 3200mhz cl14 (Samsung) 175€. Closer to the price of 115€ is the 3000mhz cl14 (Samsung bdie) but it costs 155€ (40€ more expensive). So is it worth paying that much???

The only difference is that if you're planning on overclocking a lot, samsung b-die will be a lot easier to hit the desired MHZ and timings that you want i.e the cl14/cl16 numbers you see. It doesn't actually provide for any better performance it's just that the 1st gen ryzen's were picky with ram so without b-die it was much harder to get a stable overclock.

2nd & 3rd gen ryzen work fine with hynix, up to you if you want to spend the extra ~$100 to make it slightly easier to get desired timings but imo not worth it.

Ok thanks. I will probably save my money.
