Hi, I recently bought 16gb of f4-3000c15d-16gtzr ram for my new Ryzen 5 2600x system. I didn't realise they made an AMD optimized f4-3000c15d-16gtzrx model. Not that I could find any online apart from second hand ones on eBay. I've read up on a lot of compatibility issues with Ryzen and the TZR (intel model) ram sticks.

However, after enabling A-XMP 2 and overclocking them to the advertised 3000mhz - I don't seem to be having any issues at all. RGB functions great, no slow downs, no crashes, Memtest64 will run for as long as I can be bothered to run it without errors.

My question is, am I hindering performance? Has ram support for the 2000 series processors been a lot wider? I've never heard of anybody getting about 2166mhz on these sticks on Ryzen, so it seemed odd that I managed to straight away. I'm using and MSI Gaming Pro x470 motherboard with the latest bios.

A 3000mhz CL14 kit will perform the same as any other 3000mhz CL14 kit or at least very very close depending on the rest of the timings. IF a TZR kit is stable on your system , then it's stable, it does not matter if it supposed to be meant for intel.

Most of the memory issues with ryzen you see are relegated to ryzen1 and ryzen 1 mobo's. B450 and X470 seem to be doing much better in terms of memory support.

I figured as much - these are actually CL15 sticks, I mistyped CL14. Does that make a difference? Sort of new to the performance memory thing, sorry. I was going to sell them but as I've had no issues I think I'll keep them.

No, no difference. CL15 should be slightly easier to run stable at 3000mhz. I would have no problem keeping that kit, maybe run a ram intensive benchmark like superpi 24mil to be sure it's stable. Or play a memory intensive game, BF1 showed me RAM instability that was not present in memtest86, aidab4, superpi or any other stress test I tired.

I've been gaming pretty much non stop since I turned the machine on - I've had no issues at all apart from a few random blue screens that were due to windows update that have since gone away. I'll keep my eye on it, and I'll use some more intensive RAM tests to see how it goes, but so far so good. Many thanks.
