Trident Z RGB NOT WORKING?

This is a common issue, but with my GIGABYTE mobo, I have gone to the extent to uninstalling and reinstalling GSKILL's CRAP software multiple times, reseating the RAM, and doing pretty much everything they say, but I still have a DIMM which will not light up. Is there any solution? Thanks...

If you are using v1.00.16 and can open the software, please try the following set of instructions to reset the lighting to the modules. In some cases, two or three cycles through #1-10 may be needed.

1. Open the software, and click on “DEFAULT”. Wait a minute or two for the process to complete.

2. Shut down the computer.

3. Disconnect the power cord, and wait for 3 minutes. (This is important!)

4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the system.

5. Open the software and click “On/Off” on the top right corner to turn the modules on and off for two or three cycles. (i.e. Off > On > Off > On > Off > On) Remember to wait a few seconds in between.

If by step 5, the modules are not lighting up, then please do the following:

6. Close the software.

7. (Win10) Open Task Manager, and go to the Services tab. Then locate “AsLedService” and right click on it to choose “Restart”. (Win7) Go to the “Run…” dialog and type in “services.msc”. A Services window will open, then locate “AsLedService” and right click on it to choose “Restart”.

8. Wait until the service to stop and start again. It should display “Running”.

9. Open the software. This will take a few minutes, and it will give you an error. This is normal.

10. Open the software a second time. The software should open properly, and the memory modules should return to default lighting.

It's faulty, I'd just RMA it.
I've had to RMA my trident z RGB twice already in april, it wasn't the software that was the problem.
In fact my 3rd set now is still not perfect, i'm having to run it in non-paired slots to get access to all the memory.

*shrug* depends if you can bear waiting for it to start working.
I built this system originally planning to sell it after some benchmarks (it's a new ryzen 1700) but I can't sell a system with faulty/not working to spec ram.

The LEDs on this RAM have 5 zones instead of 1 and are more vibrant from what I have heard compared to the vengeance RGB, so I think I'd rather wait and just disable the lighting until it is fixed.

Its not faulty ram, its just G.Skill software is rubbish, I had the same problem with 1 stick going dark, came very close to sending it back, then I discovered a piece of software that works, but first before installing this, you need to make sure that the G.skill software is completely gone including the ASUS stuff it installs into ProgramFile(x86), like AsLedService etc then reboot once all of that is gone, take a look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyHEKE3spgw download information is in the video description, after clicking the link, select your OS, then select utilities, its the 2nd download in the list, install it, try run it, if fails, reboot asnd try and run it again.

Im running that software on an MSI motherboard and also used it on a Gigabyte motherboard too, if you get it working once it opens just load defaults first and watch your stick light back up again.

The way I got mine working was to uninstall all lighting software (pretty sure CAM software was the one causing all the problems). Shut computer down, unplug computer power, and take out the ram and put it back in, power up the system and reinstall asus aura from the lighting effects (newest version) software. Opened up my asus aura software and there it was.

Hi I had the same problem but I solved it..... Yeah 😀

I have an MSI Mobo but with a gigabyte mobo it probably will work too.

There you must select your operating system.
After that, boxes will appear with Bios vga etc.
you scroll down until you find "utilities" and click on "show all" and more boxes appear
Then you search after "aura" (The current version of aura is V1.05.16)
and download it (There is a download button on the right side)
Install the Software, start it and you can control your RAM without any problems/conflicts...

RIP. Thanks for the help, but I've already given up and sold my Trident Z RGB DIMMs for some Corsair Vengeance RGB sticks.
