Hi,

I am trying to work on my first build and I am having trouble fitting RAM onto motherboard, see exact models below.

RAM sticks: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory (Desktop Memory) Model F4-3000C16D-16GTZR

Motherboard: ASRock Z370 Extreme4 LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

To clarify, I bought 2 separate kits of Trident RGB from NewEgg.
Other posts have mentioned that this specific Trident model (F4-3000C16D-16GTZR) is not listed as compatible on the AsRock website (https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z370%20Extreme4/index.asp#Memory), but this shouldn't be an issue?

My questions:
1.) Is TridentZ model F4-3000C16D-16GTZR compatible with ASRock Z370 Extreme4 LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370?
2.) If so, what I might be doing wrong during installation?
3.) If not, what TridentZ model is compatible with ASRock Z370 Extreme4 LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z370? Can I exchange the current TridentZ RAM sticks on NeEgg?

Thanks!

Greg

Solution
The memory QVL for any manufacturer means that out of the box the rams are guaranteed to work since they'd tested it in their labs prior to launch. In practice and theory any ram kit will drop into the ram slot so long as the standard is maintained, that is DDR4 rams in a DDR4 slot according to the notch on the board.

1| Yes.
2| Line up the ram stick's notch with that on the ram slot.
3| Your existing ram will work...also don't force it in.
