Backstory:
My friend had a broken PC for over a year,I fixed it but needed the password because he wanted his pictures back, but he didn’t remember his password…

Problem:
I decided to use a program called kon-boot to bypass the windows password.I installed it on a USB stick then tried to boot from the USB.I was then stuck on a black screen with white text(which wasn’t supposed to happen because the program wasn’t working).I restarted the computer and now, every time I put that USB stick in the computer it freezes.

I tried using other USB sticks but now my computer doesn’t recognize them and can’t boot from them(I wanted to install windows from them),I tried installing windows from a CD but the computer doesn’t recognize it either.

HELP!

Well it's certainly nice to know that programmes to hack into folks' personal data can fail even if it took the system down with it. I would take that as an indicator that the password strength is quite good and the system can repel fake logins.

The owner should take the machine to a professional and prove his ownership. Then the pro can recover the data but only if he's certain of the proof of ownership.

I'll leave this thread open for a while to see what happens next then close it as an indication that we don't give password advice because we can't check that proof online.

alright,seems fare enough
