Hi,

I can not see SSD.

I have pluged my SSD into my laptop throught Icy Box SATA adapter ( by replacing my dvd rom ). OS is at HDD.

SSD is AHCI. It is visible BIOS, sometimes it is not :/ However when it is visible i go to computer managment etc. and can not see my SSD on disk list.

I tried to localize it by cmd-diskpart-list disk. Can not see it there.

Maybe it is a problem with adapter, maybe it is not... dunno.

Can anyone know the solution?

PS. When i attached SSD for a first time and turned on PC. It was system updet (just one case) after login in there was a info that system could not find drivers.. or it could not install the drive. Sth like that.

If this is the case, then it really seems like the problem might be with the ICY BOX. It just might be a faulty device and if this is the case, you should try to RMA it. Basically the laptop should not have issues powering a different drive instead of the OD (optical drive). It should be able to power up an HDD and SSDs require even less power, that's why my thought is that there might be a problem with the adapter itself.
Hey there, maSZynke.

I'd recommend that you try the SSD with a different computer as well, to see if the same thing happens. You should also check in Device Manager, to see if you can update or reinstall the driver for the SATA adapter (and if it's recognized at all). Another thing which you could try is to update the SSD's firmware, if it has an available update and if you can manage to get your computer (or a different one) to recognize it. Another option would be to try and update/reset your laptop's BIOS/UEFI, to see if that fixes things up.
If you manage to get any computer to recognize the SSD, I'd advise you to download an SSD diagnostic tool and test it, to see if there's anything out of the ordinary.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

Sata Driver is visible/updated. My first step was to reinstall it. Did not help 🙁

There is no firmware for hyper x savage 240. 🙁

I'll try other suggestions. Thanks man! 😀

No worries. I'll be sure to check the results once you've posted them. :)

Actually there's one more thing I forgot to mention. If you have another drive available, perhaps you could try the SATA adapter with it and wit your computer (and a different one) to see if the system is able to recognized it.

I have updated/reset UEFI ( f9 key yes? in Setup menu). Unfortunatelly. Does not help.

Your new idea is not what i want to, because if i open laptop i think will break warranty. I can check SSD on another PC.
However it will not solve my problem :/

I suggested this solely as means of finding out if the drive is working properly. This way you'd have better understanding if it was the drive itself or some other issue. However, having in mind your laptop is under warranty, perhaps the best thing to do would be to to return if for diagnostics and repairs. And please go with the manufacturer or the reseller you got it from, because if you go for a 3rd party computer service shop, this would probably also void the warranty.

Please keep me updated.

hi. I' ve bought usb/sata adapter for hard drives. It works with my ssd, so the problem seems to be in icybox adapter. I' ve asked guy in the computer shop about my problem. He said that it could be issue with icybox voltage, which is to low for my ssd. I am wondering what to do now... I know that ssd speed is lower via sata/usb than directly via sata port.

Any ideas?
