I was attempting to install Ubuntu alongside windows 10 on my main C drive. It gave me an error while resizing the drive, and now i can't boot from windows anymore. It just brings me to repair and says it can't be repaired. What should I do?

Solution
1) Boot a live Linux install CD and run off the CD. Then mount the NtFS petition onto the linux system and look for any files you need to save.

2) Plug in an external USB drive and copy files you need from NTFS partition to the external drive

3) Replete Step #2 using another external disk so now you have redundant copies of your data.

4) unmount and unplug both USB drives and verify they are good copies and the data is readable.

5) Wipe the entire internal drive Windows and all and install Linux as the only OS. No dual boot.

6) Install a virtual machine on Linux Virtual Box works well. Reinstall Windows in the virtual machine, Upload your data from there USB drive

7) Use virtual machine controls "snapshot" the VM. You...
Update, the drive is visible and active, windows says it's healthy. However, the files cannot be accessed. Clicking it says The Parameter is Incorrect. I attempted to repair it with a program, which said it was a live drive with partition data on it and wasn't ready to be repaired. Im not sure where to go from here.

8) backup the entire computer

9) repeat step #8 but this time place the backup in some far away location in a different building

10) go to step #8 at least once a day
