Triple Channel Kit on Dual Channel Motherboard

I have ordered a P8Z68-V and bought 8GB of RAM on ebay. However, when I got the RAM, it was a triple channel kit (3x2GB) and 1x2GB stick. When paired with my motherboard will I have any performance loss? The sticks are Corsair XMS3 1600 9-9-9-24 1.65v and the single RAM stick is Corsair XMS3 8-8-8-24 1.65v.

Also, I will be using a 2500K, will this be a problem, as triple channel was made for previous generations of i7's? or will it just recognize the RAM in dual channel?

The way I understand it, someone may correct me, but whether they are labeled as Triple Channel or Dual Channel means that before they left the factory, they were specifically tested together as a triplet, or a set in the case of Dual Channel. So, triple channel or dual channel is controlled at the MOBO level, the RAM specifications just show that it was tested to operate as a set or triplet. I may be incorrect though.

chugot9218 is correct. The only difference is when they were tested they were tested together, 3 sticks instead of 2 sticks, to see if they will work properly together.

Well, the fourth stick may throw a wrench into the works, as it was not tested to specifically work with the other 3, but in theory, RAM of the same specifications and timings should operate together. Not always in practice. But, unless something is seriously wrong with one of them, if they don't work, it won't hurt any other components, you may just have to get a new set or try a new combination.
