Stupidly I ordered this - 3x4gb ram:
Corsair Memory Vengeance Black 12GB DDR3 1600MHz CAS 9 XMP Triple Channel Desktop - CMZ12GX3M3A1600C9
For a dual channel motherboard - gigabyte ga z68xp ud3 and now the PC won't post with all 3 sticks in, only with 2. I assume it is because of this I found in another thread:
"if you purchase a Tri Channel 'Matched' set then more than likely you will NOT be able to add a 4th stick because of BIN Sorted Sets. If the 'odd' stick is mis-matched the BIOS sees it as defective and will shutdown/disable the 1 or both sticks in that channel"
So is the 3rd stick now useless to me, can I not buy a matching 4th and use it, such as the one below?
Corsair Memory Vengeance Black 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz CAS 9 XMP Dual Channel Desktop Sandybridge Ready - CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9
I should have paid more attention when ordering, any help would be great
