I was facing a similar dilemma not more than a month ago. Did i really want to upgrade to three 144hz monitors? Even if you don't play games, the native 144 hz is very smooth for everyday use. It makes for a very pleasurable windows experience. If you have the money, then a 144hz will provide you with a good experience either way.

A 144hz monitor technically will be more "stress" on the pc because the GPU has to work more than twice as hard as with a typical 60hz monitor of the same resolution.

What do you want more? more monitors or a higher native refresh rate?

If you want both, you will need to drop more $$$ on GPU's to get a gaming experience to take advantage of the 144hz.

well the package does come with a asus 144hz monitor.....would have to get few more to complete my pc but want the best card or cards so the 970 wont work as good as the 780?

What games will you be playing? For an example, I get less than 40fps on Crysis 3 in 5760x1080, high settings. I have the Gigabyte GHZ edition in SLI and overclocked a bit more...

for some 970 sli benchmarks...

If you truly want to game with 144hz in surround, you need to:
a) play slightly older games
b) get super high end GPU's
c) turn settings down to get over 60fps, otherwise the 144hz is a waste.
