Hi,

These are my specs: https://gyazo.com/fc3a891a210639197818cb3d1cc17875

Temp/clock with all 3 monitors connected 2x 60hz 1x 144hz: https://gyazo.com/d047b230ade1559539447ac1d8ff277e

Temp/clock with all 3 monitors at 60hz: https://gyazo.com/a0c2fb6017fb4bc4e34a03a050ee05f8

When I have 3 monitors connected (all 60hz) my 970 will downclock to 135mhz and idle. But as soon as I put my gaming monitor at 144hz, the clock is 937mhz at idle, which causes more heat to the gpu.

It doesn't make sense to me to leave my gaming monitor at 60hz if it can do 144hz because then I bought it for nothing. But is there any way that I can fix the gpu so that it will idle at 135mhz again with a 144 display, or is this just going to happen? If it idles at 937mhz is that bad on the card vs idling at 135mhz?

The temp with all 3 monitors at 60hz is about 57C. With a 144hz, the temp is about 63C. Are these temps normal? I seen some people say their gpus idle at like 30... Here is a picture of the inside of my PC: https://gyazo.com/3fe9541cda18dd8a0450b0cba13cb30f. Does my pc need more fans or something? It's been built like this for 3 years, but I recently added a 144hz monitor.

Overall, my issue/question is: When I have all my monitors (3) connected the way I want, the gpu will not downclock and idle like it normally did when I had 2 60hz monitors. The 144 monitor made it idle at under-load mhz and run a little hotter. Is there any way to idle with less mhz and cooler temps? Maybe change some settings or something?

Solution
No it wont harm it at all, its barely going to make any difference, except using a tiny bit more power and tiny bit more heat.

Its not a big deal, your overthinking it.

I run 1x 1440p @144hz and 1x 1440p @ 96hz, my gpu idles at 1025mhz in this config.

Thanks for your response man.

So running 3 monitors with 937mhz gpu idle is normal and won't harm the card over time compared to the normal 135mhz idle it's used to?

Is ~60C normal idle temp for a gpu? My setup will down clock to 135 if I only have 2 monitors but once the third is added it up clocks. Basically this is saying the GPU is always going to have its fans turning.
