Trivial performance increase from GTX 760 to 770

I went and bought a: http://www.microcenter.com/product/416548/N770_TF_2GD5-OC_NVIDIA_GeForce_GTX_770_Twin_Frozr_OC_2048MB_GDDR5_PCIe_30_x16_Video_Card

To replace: http://www.microcenter.com/product/419486/02G-P4-3765-KR_NVIDIA_GeForce_GTX_760_Superclocked_ACX_Cooler_2048MB_GDDR5_PCIe_x16_30_Video_Card?ob=1

and ran a couple benchmarks, and I'm only really seeing a 2-4 fps jump in scoring and even getting lower minimums on some of them.

vsync limits your fps to the refresh rate of your monitor, so thats probably what did it. if your refresh rate is 60 hz, then your gonna get 60fps max. the reason people use vsyc is if they can get consistently above their monitors refresh rate, they turn vsync on and it provides smoother gameplay without as much stuttering and frame variance
Well, I honestly dont know what you are expecting. That like upgrading from a 7850 to a 7870 or something similar. Its an almost identical card with slightly higher performance, and you are getting slightly higher results.

When upgrading a GPU its a good idea to go at least 2-3 versions up. So a 760 to a 780/780ti.

even if it isnt overclocked, your processor won't bottleneck a stock 780ti. the upgrade was too little to gain a huge jump in performance. i wouldve gotten another 760, or atleast the 770 4gb so you can sli in ultra without hitting the vram limit
 
FYI, Furmark was made obsolete around the Fermi generation when Nvidia incorporated GPU speed throttling, specifically when Furmark and OCCT are used. You should try a different stress tester to get a true measure.

When you upgrade from a GTX 760 to a 770, the performance increase should be around 20%. That means that a game running at 100 FPS on a GTX 760 should on average run at 120 FPS on the GTX 770. By the same token, that also means a game running at 50 FPS on the GTX 760 will only be running at 60 FPS on the GTX 770. So set your expectations accordingly. 20% seems like a big performance boost, but in reality it can amount to less than 10 FPS on some of the more demanding games.

It's about center on the wall, under the vent, so it isn't getting any direct airflow from it. Tv is also on the desk with the back facing the front of the computer. The two exhaust fans (back/top) are facing open spaces. the three intake are two on the side blowing the gpu and one on the other side blowing the back of the mobo where the Cpu is.

also, with afterburner you can set a fan profile, so if you dont want it going over a certain temp you can control how fast you want the fans going. for example my max i want my gpu to get is 80 so at 80 degrees i set the fan speed to 100, and keep a very agressive fan speed down to 65 or 70. below there, i drop the fan speeds so it doesnt sound like a jet when i web browsing
