Hello, my friend has a problem and we are having no luck figuring out the solution. He recently sent his I7 8700k of to be delided and after receiving it back he went strait into overclocking (which he has decent experience at) boosting his CPU to 5GHz at 1.33v.
It went great so he went for 5.1GHz.at 1.375v which then refused to boot. He suspected his ram might be the issue so he upped the voltage on his Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 (2x8GB) to 1.395v and that's where the problems started. It booted with default bios settings and wouldn't let him change anything. Fixed that with a cmos reset but he now has a lagging issue.
Regular lag spikes are now an issue while doing anything. Wether it be playing a game or loading a programme. I have removed and replaced the CPU, tried my ram in his system, tried running on board graphics and removing all storage except where his OS is stored. All I can think of now is testing his motherboard which is an Asrock Taichi z370 but we have no way of doing that easily. Does anybody have any ideas what might have happened or any solutions to this issue?
Thank you for taking your time to read.
