Maybe someone can help me out with this unique problem.
This issue has happen with all of my last 3 system builds (to my PC). These descriptions are below.
The issue in question, is upon a cold start up, sometimes the BIOS won’t post (no beep), and the monitor gets no signal.
It appears as if the CPU is not getting any power, as the front panel states the CPU is at 0MHz, but fans are running, and all internal “lights” are working.
I have to “soft-off” the system, and then I get a BIOS failure notice upon boot up (the system was improperly shut down).
I check the BIOS settings, which are unchanged, save and restart.
Then the BIOS will post (beep), and starts Windows 10 Pro x64.
1st System:
Intel Core i7-4830K CPU
Asus X-99 Deluxe Motherboard
32GB (4x8GB) DDR4-2400 Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM
Samsung XP941 M.2 128GB SSD (in Asus Hyper-X PCIe Card)
Samsung SM941 M.2 256GB SSD (in Asus Hyper-X PCIe Card)
2xSeagate 3TB HDDs (no RAID)
EVGA GeFforce GTX 660ti Boost VGA
Dell U2711b Monitor
Corsair 1200AXi PSU
2nd System:
Intel Core i7-6600K CPU
Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard
32GB (4x8GB) DDR4-3200 Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM
Samsung 950 Pro M.2 NVMe 256GB SSD
Samsung 950 Pro M.2 NVMe 512GB SSD (in Asus Hyper-X PCIe Card) 2xToshiba 6TB HDDs (no RAID)
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW VGA
Dell U2711b Monitor
Corsair 1200AXi PSU
3rd System:
Intel Core i7-7700K CPU
Asus ROG STRIX Z270F Gaming Motherboard
32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 Corsair Vengance LED RAM
Samsung SM961 M.2 NVMe 256GB SSD
Samsung SM961 M.2 NVMe 512GB SSD
2xToshiba 6TB HDDs (no RAID)
Asus ROG STRIX Gaming GeForce GTX 1070 VGA
Dell U3415W Monitor
Corsair 1500AXi PSU
Common components for all 3 builds:
Case: Corsair Odsedian 900D Full Tower ATX Case
Front Panel: Asus ROG Front Base Controller/Display (2nd & 3rd build)
Optical Drive: LG Super-Multi Blue BD/DVD Read/Write Drive w/Lightscribe
CPU Cooler: Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance CPU Cooler
Paste: Noctua NT-H11 Thermal Paste
Fans: 3x120mm Corsair Case Fans: into motherboard fan header(s)
1x140mm Corsair Case Fan: into motherboard fan header
I thought the problem was the PSU, but I changed that on the last build.
However, I DID NOT change the PSU cables inside the case (i.e. used the same SATA, fan, 24-pin ATX power, the 4+4-pin CPU power cables), and they are all modular and interchangeable.
I’m thinking it could be the 4+4 CPU power cable, or the 8” extension cable (from Mod-Right) I use to route the cable behind the back/side panel, to the top of the motherboard.
But why would it not work “cold” but then work a couple of minutes later, without me even touching it!
