I'm trying to install windows 10 on any of my 3 external drives with no luck.

  1. Sandisk 32GB USB stick
  2. WD Elements SE 1TB USB Hard Drive
  3. Samsung Portable SSD T5 500GB
I am using the WinToUsb method and chosing "windows to go" - installing a windows 10 ISO onto the drive then trying to boot from it.

I get as far as installing windows 10 and also I can boot from them (all external drives) however the moment they start to boot windows 10 - I am met with a black screen and nothing else.

Is there any solution to this?

Thanks

My laptop specs:

MSI GS66 stealth
i7-10750H
512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD

EDIT: Just tested the WD element 1TB drive in my 2nd laptop (HP Pavillion 15) and Windows loaded, installed perfect.

Any idea what the problem on my MSI is causing the setup screen not to load and instead black screen?
