Trouble connecting power to GTX 760 via PCI-e

Hi all,
I have installed a GTX 760 running of a 550w EVOLVEO PSU. The graphics card has a 1 x 6 pin and a 1x 8 pin connector - but my PSU pci-e leads is a 1 x 6 pin with 'PCI-e' written on it and 2 x 4 pin cables - one of which goes into the mobo and one which would appear to be redundant... so my question is do i need an adapter to fill the 8 pin connector on the GTX?

pics here will hopefully show the dilemma !

Many thanks in advance :)

It seems that you have even worse Evolveo PSU in use,
specs: http://www.evolveo.com/en/pulse-550w

While there are molex to PCI-E adapters out there (like this one), i'd buy a new, good quality PSU instead. Since there's no telling how long your Evolveo PSU lasts and if it even keeps the voltages within safe margins, which doesn't damage the rest of your components.

For new PSU, i suggest any Seasonic unit in 500W range, e.g : M12II-520 EVO, Focus+ 550 (80+ Gold), Focus+ 550 (80+ Platinum) or PRIME Ultra 550 (80+ Gold),
pcpp: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/TgW9TW,bkp323,sYyxFT,9nmxFT/

You'll get 5 years of OEM warranty with M12II EVO series PSU, 10 years of OEM warranty with Focus+ series PSUs and 12 years of OEM...

That 2 x 4-pin is EPS+12V cable and it plugs only into the MoBo. If you try to plug it to your GPU, you will fry your GPU since EPS+12V power cable has reverse pinout compared to the PCI-E power cable (the 6-pin you also have on the pic).

Though, according to the official specs, your PSU (which seems crap quality since it has 0 reviews on the net), has two 6+2-pin PCI-E cables,
specs: http://www.evolveo.com/en/gold-550w-r

Locate both PCI-E connectors and with this, you're golden, since you can plug both of them to your GPU, while leaving 2-pin connector hanging free.

All my 3 PCs: Skylake, Haswell and AMD are also powered by Seasonic. Full specs with pics in my sig.
