Just upgraded to a new system with the following pertinent specs:
  • Gigabyte Aorus X570 Elite Wifi motherborad
  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU
  • G.Skill Trident Z NEO Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) RAM
Specs on the RAM are : DDR4-3600 (PC4-28800) CL18-22-22-42 1.35V

Running a Passmark memory test, I'm barely clearing 2900 (online benchmarks seem to point to a 3600-ish average mark), and the UserBenchmark app puts me at 88% of expected speed.

Checking wmic tells me that the memory is running at 2133 instead of 3600 as well (which is weird to me).

I've gone in and manually set the timings, voltage, and multiplier in the BIOS, double-checked that XMP is turned on, but still not eking out the speed I'd expect.

Does anyone have any additional suggestions? Could it be bum RAM? I've got a few weeks left before the return/exchange window closes.

Made some progress, have been able to eke it up to 3200 using the following settings:
  • XMP On
  • Memory Multiplier 36
  • DRAM Voltage 1.350V
  • AMD Overclocking ON
  • DRAM Timing 1600 MHz
  • Infinity Fabric 1600 MHz
Bumping the DRAM Timing up to 180 MHz drops the registered speed of the memory down to the 2133 default value.

Anyone else have any luck getting their 3600 DDR4 to run faster than 3200? I tried shooting for 3400 (1700 timing) but that didn't work either.
