Hi all!

I resently bought an MSI GTX 970 gaming graphics card and I'm pretty happy with it.
My only problem is it doesn't overclock as well I would think it should.

While using MSI afterburner I get an error that says "The nvidia opengl driver detected a problem with the display driver and is unable to continue. The application must close.
Error code:3"

If I play a game (shadow of mordor) while overclocked I get an error that says something like my graphics card got diconected, or something like that.

I tested a bunch of overclock setting, I think the least texing being a plus 200 core overclock and no memory overclock.

It's not a temp issue as the card never goes over 68c.

My specs are:

Motherboard: ga-z77x-ud3h
CPU: i5 3570k @ 4.0
GPU: MSI gtx 970
RAM: Corsiar vengance 8gb
PSU: Ultra 550 watts using 1 6pin and 1 6 to 8 pin. (I think this may be the issue)

Thanks.

Edit: I just wanted to update.

I have since been able to overclock my card Core 1500/ Memory 8000Mhz. I think the problem was the older version of afterburner I was using.
Everything is working fine with temps around 66C.
Thanks.

The difference between 8x and 16x is only bandwidth related , switched it and you'll have no problems then try to overclock , if it does then it might have been not properly seated.

N.B : The GPU will work in a 8x

It might be the PSU not being able to supply it with enough power , I've never heard of that psu so I am not sure about the quality as well as the i5 is overclocked so it might be eating from the power too.

Nevertheless you might try and reseat the GPU in a different PCIe , see if that does something.

Thats what I was thinking. As for Ultra, I think only tigerdirect sells them. They must be pretty decent as mines been running for around 4 years.

Also, I beleive my other pci-e slot is only 8x.

Thanks!
