So I'm having a real harsh time trying to overclock this old fella. I don't know what I'm doing wrong however note that this is my first overclocking ever. Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q8400
(4M Cache, 2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)
GPU: Geforce gts250 (Green Version): 675 MHz Core
512MB GDDR3 2200/2000MHz Memory
RAM:kvr1333d3n9 4g 2x2 gb DDR3 1333
MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte EP43T-UD3L
POWER SUPPLY Chieftec APS-500S 500W
HARD DRIVESamsung hd103uj 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5

Basically what I do is get overclock it to 2.88 GHz and then drop the memory so it isn't above 1333. I leave everything else untouched because it should operate at this little overclock at auto right? With these settings I manage to boot run Prime 95 for 30 mins. Under full load temps stay at 62C. However when playing games after a while I get a BSOD. Am I doing something wrong? I would like to achieve at least 3 GHz, 3.2 would be max I think. Please help and note that I could be missing some basic stuff.

I have already tried bumping the vcore voltage a bit when I was at 3GHz I also bumped CPU termination by 0.08 and MCH by 0.08

just be mindful of the safe voltages. if i remember correctly, i bumped NB voltage also, sorry its been years so i cannot remember the terms anymore :)

what clock are you aiming for? 3ghz would be nice already, q8xxx is not really good for oc, q9xxx's are better
