trouble overclocking

I have just brought an ASus P5K premimum Motherboard and an Intel E8400 chip also has 2 gig DDr2 800 memory, I have tried overclocking by raising the cpu front side bus to 400mhz which u have to type in manually in Bios , the Pc seems fine when booted saying CPu is now running at 3600 instead of the standard 3000, everything seems fine till i run a game then it is running at about 7 frames per sec, my graphics card is a Nivida geforce 8800 gts !! which runs perfect when cpu in standard mode. Any ideas what im doing wrong please?

Does your system pass at least 12hours of Prime95 blend test and small FFt? If it doesn't, then that's probably why.

List your full specs as well, it may help us.

Need more details... what's your vCore at? What game you tying to run?

My vcore voltage is 1.192 and the game is Arca simracing. i usually get 190 frames per sec not 7 when overclocked.
In answer to evilonigiri what more specs do u need as i thought id listed everything? Running win XP.

1.1v for the vCore seems low to me.

knowing power supply would be nice. try raising the voltages.
