Trouble with new monitor

recently bought a new monitor, 1080p, 27in', and and every time I connect it to my PC via HDMI or VGA, it says that the display adapter has been stopped due to an error (Error 43) and swaps to the Basic Microsoft Display Driver. Ew.

It is an integrated graphics card, HD 6310. The thing is, as soon as I connected it to another monitor, 1600x900, it worked fine. I may just be stupid, and the 6310 just doesn't support this res, but I'm hoping that isn't the case.

Solution
Did some searching and it appears that it should be able to support that resolution. There would be no reason to have an HDMI port if it couldn't do 1080p.
I would suggest starting with using AMD's catalyst software to make sure drivers are up-to-date. If it still doesn't work, you can try uninstalling the card's current driver and manually installing the newest driver yourself. You can find them on AMD's website.
