Troubleshooting new build

If there are problems with the ram, either for being defective or the motherboard not supporting it, would the board power up at all? Whenever I try to power up my new build (which oddly enough worked for an entire day until I shut it down for the first time), everything in the system turns on except for my CM212 fan (and CPU? I get no video on my screen). I'm also pretty sure it isn't because the fan is bad. I tried connecting the stock AMD heatsink fan and it didn't power up either.

I don't have enough experience building computers to know what causes what to not work, which is why I'm asking.

Unfortunately the motherboard doesn't have a speaker or even a connection for one. I'm gonna take out the board and reconnect everything though and see if I can isolate the problem.

Sorry I just got back from reinstalling everything. It works again. I found out that it was the tabs on the I/O plate (particularly the PS/2 one) preventing me from seating the motherboard correctly. :/ As for the motherboard, it's an Asus M5A97, which apparently DOES have a speaker connection so my bad there.

Either way, I really appreciate you responding to the thread and trying to help me out.
