recently troubleshooted memory card and it says Your computer has a memory problem.

my comp. has been giving me blue screen from time to time.

If i were to upgrade MB then might as well upgrade Memory cards and cpu? Suggestions?

CPU: Intel I7 4790K 4.5GHz
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H ATX
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB 2133
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD
Western Digital BLACK SERIES 1TB HHD
Video Card: GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 Mid tower
Power Supply: Rosewill Capstone 750W 80+ Gold
Fans: 3 exhaust fans ( 1 rear, 2 top), 3 intake fans ( 1 side, 1 bottom, 1 front)

Run memtest86 to test your ram.
It should be able to complete a full pass with NO errors.
If you should get any errors, test each stick individually.

If the ram is faulty, contact crucial, ram will usually have a lifetime warranty.

To check the motherboard, test a known good stick in each of the ram slots to see if possibly a ram slot is defective, in which case the motherboard is possibly bad.
One possibility for such symptoms is a bent pin in the cpu socket.

If you are inclined to upgrade your processor,
You could go ryzen 3000 or intel 9th gen.
If you are running multithreaded apps, the many cheap cores of ryzen is good.
From the reading I have done, there is little value for gaming for more than 4-8 fast cores.
I5-9600K or even 9700K is plenty. Past that look to better graphics.

I had a chance to run memtest finally. It is crazy how many errors its getting haha :joycat:
I will update pic later.
I forgot where i purchased my memory and i dont have the og box to get a replacement from Crucial i think.

Suggestion for memory card please?
I need something a lot faster than now that can also be used when i upgrade for more cpu core and better MB in the future.

Ps. It says 8 cpus found but 4 are active. I thought i7 4790k has 4 cores?

Sometimes cpu and threads are confused.
The i7-4790K has 4 cores but 8 threads.

Crucial ram should have a lifetime warranty.
Probably no need to be able to document where you purchased it.
If your ram sticks are not part of a matched kit, that is probably your problem.
Try increasing the ram voltage a bit in the bios.
Sometimes that helps.

There is little value in increasing the speed of ram on an intel processor.

it's time i change rams now anyways. i bought these like 4 yrs ago.
i need something a lot faster and large in capacity.
How are these for my set up? i have to be able to use them with faster cpu and mb in the future.

crucial ballistix sport lt 32 3200 MHZ
g.skill aegis 32gb
corsair LPX 32gb 3200 MHZ

Normally, 16gb is plenty for gaming.
Only if you are running apps that can benefit from lots of ram like photoshop would 32gb be appropriate.

I have no problem with faster ram, your motherboard supports up to 3200 speed.
Today, ram prices are down a bit and you may find that 3200 speed is not more expensive than a lesser speed.
Buy a 2 x 16gb kit. you will operate in dual channel mode regardless if the kit is 2 or 4 sticks.
32gb is going to require a 4 x 8gb kit 2666 speed max

For your apps, lots of ram is very good.
With ram prices down, you might even consider 64gb.

If you are looking at a future ryzen upgrade, best to pick a prospective motherboard and buy your ram based on compatibility.

For an intel build, compatibility is not an issue.
Here is a nice article on configuring a system for photoshop:
