[SOLVED] TRUST GXT 834 Callaz or Thor 303 TKL?

Solution
If both your hands are tied without any possibility to save and pick something up with better options and build quality, then I'd get the Thor 303 TKL. However if I know I can make the effort by saving in order to get something substantially better than I'll do it for sure. Thing is I'm not you and I don't know everything in terms of what you're going through.

Thor 303 TKL gets my vote, though not really.
My 2 cents,

I'd advise on picking up a reliably built keyboard which has hotswap sockets and is modder friendly. I personally don't like the Outemu switches due to their poor build quality. I prefer Gateron switches that are lubed and off of their Pro range. They tend to be smooth. The reason I'm stating not to invest in the above keyboards since the value seems too good to be true but in reality they're cutting as many corners as possible to help get a keyboard out like that out to the masses.

You parsed an URL that's for the UK yet you stated the other keyboard is 13USD more, where are you located, what is your budget for your keyboard purchase and what is your preferred site for purchase? To also add to the questions, what sort of switches are you looking at, linear, tactile or clicky?

Is there any significant difference?
The Thor is hotswappable. The Trust seems to have their switches soldered on. About the hotswap sockets, though read here for more info. If the hotswap sockets look like these, then you can work with Cherry MX switches as well.

I linked those URLs because that's what I could find about the keyboards, in English.

I chose the keyboards, based on my budget. My budget is around $50 and my current keyboard is becoming bit annoying already ( I currently have Logitech K280e). I'm in EU.

I'm looking for a quiet switches (that's why I am using my current keyboard - Logitech K280e) and want a 10 keyless keyboard. I play games and browse the internet. So, you could say I type a lot.

I'd like to get a brown switch keyboard but that's out of my budget. And these two keyboards seem to be a good upgrade for my current one. I definitely am running away from blue switches, so a red switch keyboard would be my current choice.

I looked at other keyboards many times and these two seem to be my best option, based on my budget and my preferences.

Which country? This is for ease of sourcing something closer to you.

You sure you've looked into Roya Kludge's, Epomaker's and Akko's range of keyboards?
I'm in Bulgaria.

I looked at Roya Kludge and imports and taxes would make it harder to get one at a decent price here. I did find Royal Kludge RK87 in my country at a price of $138. So, it's 2.7 times more than my budget.

The thing is these keyboards are not meant for the European market. And even if they are found here they are sold at a much higher prices. The keyboards look amazing, though.

All the keyboard manufacturers you mentioned are barely found here, as I mentioned, and at insane prices.

I guess my best bet would be Amazon.de if there is something better around my budget. If there isn't anything better than the Thor 303 TKL and the Genesis Trust GXT 834, then I guess I'll have to stick with one of them.

Yep, as I mentioned that's my budget and I did mention my preferences. I guess, one of the reasons such keyboards are made is for people with budgets like mine. Beggars can't be choosers, right? :)

The Thor 303 was my original choice anyway. I just wanted to know if it's worth paying the extra money. And, I have 30 days to return it with no questions asked. So, plenty of time to see if it works for me or not. Plus I have a leftover points for a discount from a previous purchase, from the store I am purchasing it from.

Anyway, thank you for your time and advice. It is appreciated!

I didn't mean to come off that way, in case you thought I was rude in any manner, shape or form. What I was meaning to say is that if you should do something, do it once and do it well. Saving up and then getting something that will last you a good while is actually what I've come to understand. True, you're supposed to experience a keyboard before you can commit to it but since it's part of your everyday computing experience and to a degree also affects your posture and your ergonomics, which eventually leads to how you go about your day. I'd save up and then buy something worthwhile.

Regardless, of that mind set. Hope you get what you're shopping for.

No, I didn't think you were rude, nor was I offended.

I too think that it's better to save up. As I said I'll have 30 days to return it. So, at least I will know what the quality of a keyboard of this price range and specs is.

If you can, please offer your experience with the keyboard you'll purchase in this thread. It does offer closure and furthermore helps out the community in case there are people in the same predicament as you're in. The least we can do is warn someone not to get something due to shady workmanship.

Good luck!
:)

Yes, I will. I was thinking to do that, actually :)

I am also going to post another thread about a different, old product.

Hopefully these actually help someone.

Thank you! :)
