Try'ed to install Windows 8.1 (black Screen)

Hello i tryed to install Windows 8.1. Download went all the way to restart, computer restart then boots up to black screen. Plus i tryed to install it twice and lost 10gb on my SSD Kinda like to know how to get it back. I got a Error code of 0xc1900101-0x2000D.

Question do you need to have windows 8 updated to the lattes patch?
