Trying out windows 8 trial, issues

Not sure if this is an issue but I wanted to try windows 8 out to see if it would make Battlefield run better, problem is, I have to download everything all over again even though my ssd and hdd have everything already installed, so basically I'm installing duplicates. Is this normal?

If you installed the Windows 8 evaluation as a second operating system, then yes it is certainly normal to need to reinstall all of your applications. The Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation cannot be installed as an upgrade except on systems with Volume License versions of Windows 7 and 8. The upgrade paths are detailed here on TechNet.
