I'm trying to access the data on an old laptop drive. I have have it in an external USB housing.
In disk management it shows up as status invalid. looking at properties its type is dynamic and is a MBR partition.

I have option to convert to Basic type but will lose all data.

So really I want to be able to read the disk without losing the data.

Is this possible?

Solution
If the Usb housing is compatible with drives larger then 2TB then it may be incompatible with the 512byte sector format of this old drive. new drives (& enclosures) use 4k byte sectors (some drives do 512b emulation)
So you may actually need to mount the drive internally to get the data off.
