I'm trying to choose between these 2 boards for my 12400 ITX gaming build.

Ideally I wanted to stick with DDR4, as I already have 32gb of Trident Royal I wanted to use and love it. But there are no good LGA 1700 DDR4 ITX motherboards sadly. The selection is pretty crap IMO.

The gigabyte ones, have awful reviews and bios issues. And I've never purchased an ASrock board before. Have always used ASUS or MSI which neither have a DDR4 board.

Would you

-Use the ASrock and call it a day? (Is this board a solid board?)
-Use the ASUS and just get new DDR5 Ram? Potentially getting trident royal if they release it down the road?
-Skip 12th gen and get an 11th gen CPU instead on the 1200 chipset with way more ITX boards to choose from?

Thanks so much,

If you don’t get 12th gen, get an AMD 5000 CPU. 11th gen was a waste. Are you strictly gaming? What GPU are you using?
Just gaming. I have a GTX 1080, but will be upgrading soon to a 3060 ti or 3070.

I've used intel for the last 15 years, so Ryzen is a new beast to me. There definitely seems to be more ITX boards for it though. I'll have to do some research and see if going Ryzen is the way to go here. Thanks.

Yep, I’d look hard at AMD across the board. Their 6800xt GPU has dropped to almost the same price as the 3070. If doing 1440p gaming, CPU will matter less and Gpu will matter more. If gaming at 1080p, you want a stronger cpu as well.

Thanks, I'll do some research. IF i do decide to stick with intel, do you have any opinion on the ASrock board? I've read the VRM's are bad. Which had me a little worried. But with the 12400, it might be fine.
