I am trying to connect my laptop to my tv but have not been able to because there is no HDMI port. My computers is a HP elitebook 2570p and I would prefer using an hdmi port on my tv as I have three currently open. I am looking to play movies/videos through my laptop so need audio, as well as video.

Thank you!

The device has Bluetooth as well so that opens up a USB receiver on the TV Side.

And there are also the ExpressCard Slot And a eGPU.

Plenty of options.

Would you recommend the converter cable? It seems to be the simplest way. or do I need both?

Apparently I was looking at the wrong image(s).

You have displayport. Displayport to HDMI is the way to go.

The USB options can work, but require specific adapters to take audio also - otherwise you have to run an aux cable in addition, and that gets messy fast.

DP to HDMI.

Display port to HDMI is the best way. That Dynex version works fine, I have used it a few times now with good results. If you want a "Dell" Authorized version that will cost more.

Dell DisplayPort To HDMI Audio/Video Adapter Cable $17

Or a used one for around $12.

USB to HDMI works too but sometimes you have to play around with drivers and settings unless it comes with a driver disk. Either way you choose you will only need just the one cable.
