Trying to connect second monitor, no signal

I'm using an Acer K202HQL and an LG 29UB65. The LG is plugged into the 'DVD-I' port and the Acer is plugged into the 'VGA' port. I've been using the LG and wanted to set up a dual monitor system but my Acer is not being detected whatsoever, not even in display manager.

All of my drivers are updated as well. Does anybody know what the problem might be?

Also, I have GeForce GTX 650.

Hello... You need to tell the OS how to do this for the Driver to enable the other output options on the Video card.

Right click your OS desktop-screen resolution this is your master OS single and multi-display option page.

You are basically adding "real-estate" of the second monitor display area to the existing OS display area, "Extend these displays".

You can add it to the top-right-left-bottom and in landscape or portrait modes too. You can use the graphics display above to move and custom position for screen#2 ...and correct mouse movements between the screens.

Your 650 has vga? It usually doesn't. I'm thinking you are plugging it into the mobo which is why it's not working. Unless your bios has the option to run both igpu and dgpu, you can't use both. Just get a hdmi cable to plug both into the gpu.

Hello... a "Monitor" is a "Passive" device... meaning there will NOT be a "handshake", Driver or communications needed with an OS...

Enable "Duplicate theses displays" and then start trouble shooting your cable connections, monitor inputs, and GPU outputs... the GPU should have a pair of Ports/connectors sending a "duplicate" Video output.

If your trying to use a "adaptor" for the VGA analog output? then you need to be plugged into the Video Card "DVI-I" connector for those analog signal/pins to be present. You can Power down the Monitors and safely switch monitor cables to the active Video card outputs, for convenience.

Actually there is or else the pc sees no monitor and won't output a signal through the port. The monitor has to be known that it's plugged in. It will be in device manager or it will not work.

Hello... Yes... 'Device ID's' get searched and the Device Manager gets updated... but a monitor can be "hot plugged" without concern of a driver needed or crashing or not booting without it. Basically a set of speakers are passive... in electronics there are "Categories" of "Active" and Passive" devices... And so far the Monitor is under that heading... and "Smart" everything is being produced, so the status "passive" could change in the future.

I feel he has a "VGA adaptor?" "bad cable?" "in the wrong port?" "wrong monitor setting?, so the "monitor" device id is not showing up through the video card communications.

I apologize but I'm not the most tech savvy person, I'm not sure exactly what you mean when you talk about 'plugging into the motherboard' or into the gpu. With my new monitor there was a vga cable included that I plugged into the back of my computer, I'm not sure if it's hooked up to the motherboard or the gpu. As for the HDMI cable idea, my Acer monitor does not have an HDMI port, so that won't work.

I don't deny hot plugging, as irrelevant that is, or passive vs active but if it is getting a signal, it shows in device manager as at least a monitor.

There should be a rectangle on the back that has usb, audio ports, other ports, that is the mobo. There is the gpu, your 650, that is in one of the expansion slots since it's a separate card. It only has video ports, and usually a 650 comes with dvi, hdmi and dp.

Dvi to the acer, hdmi to lg.

Hello... Yes... Just did a Test... I stand corrected in my procedure, you will NOT be able to enable the OS multi-monitor option without a monitor ID detected in the Device Manager... the monitor is detected whether it is "Powered" or "Not Powered" through the cable/GPU/MB.
