Trying to create a Lan network between W10 and W7 to share a file

I've turned on all the options on both pcs and connected them with the cable.

They both seem to detect the network.

Though, W7 machine only has itself listed under Network. W10 pc has both W7 and W10 but when clicking W7, it has the User folder which I don't have access to, and printer folders.


How do i do this? I just want to send one file.

For a single file, the easiest way is to simply email it to yourself.
Secondly, DropBox/OneDrive, or similar
Thirdly, figure out why your File and Folder Sharing situation does not work.

The file is roughly 20 gb in size. It'd be best to solve my lan sharing problem. I don't know how though.

OK, 20GB. Not email.

For the File and Folder sharing...
Make a new folder on the system where this file lives.
Copy this file into that specific folder
Right click, Properties, and select the Sharing tab
Once you've gone through all the prompts and Shared it (with Everyone), it should be visible from the other system.

Move the file to the public folder, then move the drive into the other pc to copy the file

or grab a 32GB thumb drive to copy the file from one to the other
