i had already decided on the intel but i am wondering (because my main use will be video editing)
if i would do better with a 8 core processor
any suggestions

Solution
You will be just fine with the i5. The single thread performance of the i5 is much better than AMD 9370. You also have access to a much newer generaton motherboard that supports the latest DDR4, leaving for more upgrade room in the future.

Solution
will the computer slow down will doing 4k video editing
can i do other tasks at the same time

the other issue is the price of intel
i live in canada
$350.00 for cpu
$230.00 for the motherboard then you no about the ddr4 ram price

i am trying to future proof my computer
or am i better to go with the amdf because of the price savings and upgrade again in a couple of years

If cost is an issue, then definitely don't go for the 9370. It's basically an overclocked 8350. That's why the power draw is much higher.

The i5 shouldn't slow down when editing 4k, but it won't be as fast as an i7. Both will be better than the 8350. I personally think you will really like the i5.

i agree totaly my old computer is amd and when i went to a computer store getting advice they just told me the
options with amd

i was totaly in agreement with you. the only question i have with the future is when they release a new cpu will it not require a new socket
the reason i am going with the i5 is i can use the money to maybe consider the next cpu

well i have you guys here what ddr4 ram do you suggest

Yes, but generally you won't need to upgrade the CPU for another 3-4 years. They are typically not the cause of bottleneck in your system. You will see bigger improvements in 4k content by changing video cards in between that gap, especially with HBM cards being introduced now.
