Total noob question. I have a game that needs AMD R9 285 minimum, I am currently running an R7 200 series. So looking to upgrade the card. (Game runs on lowest setting but barely). I can't decipher what is better or worse in GPU land. I would like to upgrade for the least out of pocket today.
Here are my specs currently.
Processor: AMD FX 6300 @ 3.8 GHz, Ryzen 3 – 1200, Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.1 GHz
Video: AMD Radeon R9 285 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2GB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0)
Memory: 8GB RAM
So my processor is barely making it also but I would like to do a less expensive upgrade for now, not a complete makeover of the entire PC. I could handle a couple hundred now for a card knowing in the next few years I will have to rebuild the whole system or buy newer.

- Upgraded power supply several years ago, not sure to what without opening the case (Something gold comes to mind)
