Hey guys! I've had my current build for just over 2 years now, and everything in it has been fantastic. However, as newer games come out with awesome engines and graphic options, I find that my CPU is holding me back from playing with solid FPS on high settings! So I'm looking for some help finding a compatible cpu to up my experience!

I don't really have a price limit (Think reasonable ;) ) and I'll list my current specs below! Many thanks.

Graphics card: GTX 1070
CPU: i7 7700
Motherboard: ASRock z270 Extreme4
RAM: 16GB Ripjaw
OS: Windows 10

How come your belive that your cpu holds your back?
You might be right but personally i would buy 32gb ram instead of 16 and see if you can benefit there.
Also you can try to "optimize" your windows for gaming, there are many youtube videos for that.

this are my pc specs and its really smooth gameplay even with 4k monitor
OS : Windows 10 64Bit V 1709
CPU : INTEL Core i7 8086k 4GHz
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti OC
Ram: : Kingston 32 GB DDR4 4000MHz
Display : ASUS PB287Q 3840x2160 70Hz
MemoryDrive : SAMSUNG SSD 970 Pro NVMe M.2 1TB
MotherBoard : MSI Z370 A Pro E7B48IMS.280

I can only give positive feedback to this CPU, not a single game makes it go to its limit.

What is the speed of that ram, that you have? A solid upgrade, for better multi-threaded support, would be a Ryzen 7 3700x. The R5 3600 is another solid option, at its price point.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor ($327.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock X570 Extreme4 WiFi ax ATX AM4 Motherboard ($239.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $567.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Thanks for the input! I think both that CPU and motherboard will be quite a big upgrade. I have a bit more allotted money now than I did when I originally built this PC.

Upgrading that system would not be a good idea, pretty much tossing money away. You have pretty high end parts, and I can't think of any game that will have issues running on your CPU in high settings. If you are running at 4k then a faster video card should help, not a new CPU. If you are running at 1080 or even 1440, you should be fine at good frames.
