Trying to dual boot Windows and Linux on Asus P8Z68 V-PRO/GEN 3

I have been trying to dual boot Windows 7 and Zorin OS 7.1 (Ubuntu 13.10 variant) on a Asus p8z68 vpro gen3. I have searched for solutions however they are confusing and/or difficult. I want to put them both on the same SSD (boot drive) but everytime the live usb says that there is no windows 7 installation even after changing my mobos settings. I have made separate partitions using both windows 7's disk manager and zorin's gparted. When using the blank partition it erased my windows master boot record and automatically installed linux's mbr instead. I need windows for solidworks unless wine can successfully run SW without any hiccups; i'm stuck. is this UEFI bs screwing linux over or there a whole new method at which this has to be done in order to dual boot? How do i go about dual booting from one drive?

When your Linux install placed its bootloader, it didn't add Windows to the menu? I have a dual-boot on my desktop between Windows 7 and OpenSUSE 12.3, and have everything in UEFI mode. Which bootloader are you using for Linux?

It was the grub 2 using the ext4 file system. (GRUB 2.00-13ubuntu3)

I'm using Grub 2 on both my desktop and laptop, also. However, my desktop (which I'm not near right now, unfortunately) is the only one with a dual-boot setup. Is your motherboard set up for Secure Boot? Some Linux distributions have trouble with Secure Boot.

Yes, Ubuntu will erase the mbr, that is normal. If grub didn't add windows then the solution is to install and run boot-repair. It seems to deal with Uefi better. It's not the secure boot, that would have stopped you from even starting the live version. If Ubuntu is still there then add boot repair to the live version and let it work. It also may take a couple of reboots.
