Hello everyone!
I'm looking for advice on the upgrade path to take with my build. There are a few different options I'm considering that are making this decision difficult and I would really appreciate your input.
Here are my specs:
AMD FX 6300 @ 3.5 GHz
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
EVGA NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB SC
(2x8)16GB Ram 1600 MHz
I use it for moderate gaming and motion graphics (mostly after effects and c4D). Prior to this build I had a GTX 1050Ti that crapped out on me, and was given my current GPU as a gift by a very good friend. I've recently become dissatisfied with my PC's performance with certain games (stuttering and unstable fps) and I believe the issue to be with the bottleneck my CPU has on my GPU.
I was looking into potential upgrades I could make and found what I thought was a good deal and a card that wouldn't bottleneck my GPU as bad:
Ryzen 5 2400g + Mobo combo for $219.99
I was planning to get that and these 16gb DDR4 ram sticks for $60 for total of $280 to upgrade from my current build...
HOWEVER: I just found an i5 4570 from an old office PC that was purchased last year and now I'm thinking that'd maybe it'd be cheaper to just buy only a new mobo, since it seems from my research that that CPU wouldn't be a huge bottleneck on my GPU.
So now we're here.
TL;DR: Upgrading from an fx6300 with a gtx 970 and not sure whether I should I get a new mobo for my spare i5 4570 for around $100, or go with a Ryzen 5 2400g + Mobo combo (and ram) for $280 total.
