There was this Strategy game provided in the CD that came along a compaq pc... that's all I remember.
This is ages ago, when I used to go over to a friends place.

Somehow the game is stuck in my head and I really want to figure out the name of that game.

It was a strategy game, turn based, dealt with colonisation and had battle units.. It had tile based expansion..
Very little information I know, but I keep thinking of it, on and off...

Thanks for any info.

Edit - This was an Indian Compaq Presario, if that helps.

There were several games created in that fashion around that time, fortunately, I believe you are looking for what is known as a 4X Strategy game. Here is a list, I would be surprised if your selection is not on there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronology_of_4X_video_games . If you simply think you'd like a good 4x strategy from that period, I would recommend Masters of Magic, it is available on GOG.com and has a decent following, there are mods pursuing multiplayer and also some that up the difficulty/"realism"/makes some spells that were formerly useless less useless.

Civ2 was an extremely popular one around that point too, released in 1996. 4x games are some of my favorite, I recommend anything by Microprose, or Simtex I...

Thanks chugot9218.
You and google helped me out :)
Both of you directed me to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronology_of_turn-based_strategy_video_games which gave me the answer.
I was going through 1993 onwards and when I came across the word Deadlock.. and I knew that was it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadlock:_Planetary_Conquest

I'm having fun playing it.. feels like a completely different game now that I have actually gotten my hands on it again.
Makes me think of the saying that goes "thinking about it was better than having it" or about Nostalgia..

Anyways, found it. Thanks guys.
