Trying to get a Kinivo dongle adapter to connect to Wifi.

Okay, so my AT&T DSL Broadband wifi modem is set up in the bedroom. I have an old desktop eMachine EL1600-1 in the living room I'd like to connect to it. No wifi card in the eMachine and the only ones I could find that are specifically for it are overseas. I bought a Kinivo Bluetooth USB Adapter/"dongle" & have that installed successfully. It is now finding my Roku player, but not my wifi modem. Can anybody help me make this work?

Bluetooth is not the same as wifi. take it back and get a wifi adapter please.
