Trying to get my core i7 to 4.6GHz but goes back to 4.5GHz

I have the Core i7 3770k CPU processor. I'm trying to hit 4.6GHz and about 2 minutes into boot the CPU reverts back to 4.5GHz. The highest temps it reached under 4.6GHz is 82c. I'm wondering if there is a setting in the bios I missed. I'm in the process of finding the lowest v-core posible before I even attempt 4.7GHz.

uh 82c is really high and to protect itself it's most likely reverting back to 4.5 to keep the temp down

the max thermal temp is 105c. I was in the process to decrease vcore. as well i found that decreasing cpu pll and vtt improves temps. all my specs are in my sig.

A CPU SHOULD NEVER GET ABOVE 90c LET ALONE 105

well I got it to boot to 4.6GHz and stat as well as 4.7GHz. Now I'm tring 4.8GHz.

BUT IF THE TEMPS ARE SO HIGH THE WHY DO YOU KEEP MAKING THEM HOTTER THAT CAN FRY THE CPU

I don't think you understand that Ivy bridge runs hotter than Sandy bridge so Intel rasied the thermal design power to 105c on CPU cores max. I also found a way to limit the amont of voltage to keep the CPU running a little cooler. I'm not going any higher than 4.6GHz but I just did the 4.8GHz for validation purpose only and will only do 4.7GHz for benchmarks.

Remember, if it hits 90+ during stress tests, chances are it'll never reach those temps during normal operations. I'll say its safe.
My laptop, a 5 year old machine, now runs around 70+ due to fan issues, and routinely hits 90 if CPU usage goes high. No issues so far.
