Trying to Improve Cheap Prebuild

Hi all,

Last year, I was given a $500 "gaming" PC by my naïve parents who just googled "gaming computer" and bought the cheapest one they saw. So I ended up with a CyberPowerPC GUA510 (linked below). So far, I have taken out the AMD Radeon R5 230 (1gig) graphics card, replacing it with a GTX 1050 as it is to my knowledge the best option I had without increasing my power consumption. The other day, after waiting for close to an hour for a 500Mb update to write on my disk, I swapped everything over from the 1TB HDD to a 240GB SanDisk SSD Plus. In the next coming months, I'm going to have around $300 USD to spend on this. I was aiming to replace the CPU and power supply, and possibly see if I could get faster DDR3 RAM (not sure how fast/ slow my current 8 gigs are.

Anyone have any suggestions (besides throwing it out and buying a new PC) on how I can upgrade this a little bit more?

What I Know Is In The PC:

GTX 1050 (not ti)
AMD Vishera FX 4300 (3.8 GHz)
8 gigs DDR3
240GB SanDisk SSD Plus
GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard

I'm assuming if I want to upgrade CPU, I'll most likely need something with an intel or AM4 socket, which would also likely require a new PSU as this one seems to be pushing it as is.

Thanks for even just reading all this, and for any advice offered

-Michael

The socket you need is AM3+. Find a CPU with that socket. If you're looking to have better performance for gaming, I recommend upgrading the CPU to a 8350 or 6300. For the GPU go with the EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING, ACX 2.0 (Single Fan). It's on sale right now on Newegg.
