I'm trying to install and play DiabloII. I've installed it twice and
on each occassion when trying to play it, the game hangs just after of
before the "Blizzard" splash screen. Once I got as far as the Main
Menu but it hung there. I've un-installed it, ensured that everything
was removed using control panel>add remove and then re-installed only
for exactly the same thing to happen. I've searched using Google and
found the Diablo II Forums but no mention of anything like that to be
found. Can anyone help?

You could try to switch to a different graphics mode in the graphics
test, and you could try playing in windowed mode by adding the -w
parameter in the properties of the desktop shortcut. It should then
look something like this:
Target: "C:\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -w
The -w is supposed to stay outside the quotation marks.

Assuming you done all the correct steps...install D2 fully, then the
Expansion pack, then the 1.10 patch...and your system can support it
it could be a couple things, corrupt software, graphics like Gund
suggested, i have to switch between 800*600 and 1078*700, D2 likes
800*600 better. Theres a switch like the -w above for resolution, but i
forget at the moment, anyone else got ideas?

Well I've got it to run OK. The solution was to ignore the suggestion
during set up that I run the game in 3D mode using my nVidia card, and
instead I am running it in 2D mode and it loads and runs without any
problems. Simple, but then most solutions are, aren't they?
Thanks for all of the replies, now for the game!
