Trying to install my a new graphics card but it says NO SIGNAL

NOTE: I am a noob at this

So i have intel onboard graphics and im trying to install an AMD r5 240.

But when i disabled the onboard graphics and installed the card, its not working. It says VGA: NO SIGNAL, DVI: NO SIGNAL. I'm using a dvi cable.

yes i am, through a dvi cable
