So far

1 Downloaded Win7UsbPatcher from Asrock
RESULT: Goes through the whole process of copying the Win 7 ISO and patching it and although I set it to create the file on my desktop and it shows it as the location it finishes but creates no file on the desktop! I have run it several times.

2 So tried to use the Intels Win7_USB3.0_Creator_v2 with Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool
RESULT: Creates bootable USB, F11 to choose boot from usb use mouse and it works, choose boot from USB, goes to windows setup and there is no mouse or keyboard

At a loss to continue. Any help would be appreciated

Thank you my friend, maybe I did not explain enough in my OP but both methods I describe in 1. and 2. were to create a bootable USB with Win 7 on it and the usb drivers slipstreamed in.

SO in 1. when I tried to do this the Asrock utility would not crerate the file and in 2. The intel utility created the file but still would not load the usb drivers when it got into windows setup..

The motherboard has a PS2 port. Have you tried installing from an optical drive and using a PS2 mouse and keyboard? Some board will allow you to switch back and forth between mouse and keyboard when you only have one port. I experienced similar problems when I installed Windows 7 on my system. I followed the guide in the second link which worked for me. I know it was critical to set the partition scheme to MBR for UEFI.

Hmm, no access to an optical drive.

The second link shows how to use Rufus to make a bootable USB win win7 but does not include the usb drivers that would need to be injected. So how were you able to make it work? You say "I know it was critical to set the partition scheme to MBR for UEFI." Can you explain a little more?

Programs like Win7UsbPatcher from Asrock inject the drivers, also Intels Win7_USB3.0_Creator_v2 inject the drivers as well so again how did you make it work with just rufus?

This is like a comedy of errors, so 3. I tried Gigabytes Windows Installation tool
RESULT: "Failed to add drivers to an Offline Windows Image"

I am beginning to form a conspiracy therory...

You have to download the drivers from Asrocks website for your board. Use the Nlite tool to insert the drivers into the Windows iso. Use Rufus to to create a bootable USB. When you do that, make sure to select the MBR partition scheme for UEFI when you format and create the the USB media. Or, you could just bite the bullet and install Windows 10 and use your Windows 7 key to activate it.

Tell you the truth, I am a stolid with regard to getting what I want from my comp. but I also have to measure the time this is taking, I am about 24 hours into trying different solutions and I have researched quite thoroughly. I have been building computers for 20 years and this is the first time I have not gotten a workaround, I even tried the installing Windows 7 on another machine letting it load until shut down and transferring the HD to skylake but no go.

Final attempt was using Intels 3.0 usb driver and injecting it into Win7, this was the furthest I got, I had to unplug the USB Win7 install and plug in the mouse to the same USB to get it to recognize but it did and after plugging the USB drive with win7 on it back into the same USB I was able to get the mouse to work on a different 3.0 USB then I was able to use the mouse in the Win 7 set up. But on the reboot after Win7 loaded it was back to no mouse and keyboard.

So the big brother tag team of Microsoft and Intel wins this round and I will, out of sheer waste of time, end up installing Win10. The onlt reason I am compromising is because this is my third backup computer, my other 2 are on Win 7.

However, I can assure you I will be following every instructional out there to block Win 10 at every turn to keep MS big nose out of my comp. For anyone else interested in the same dont forget SDAntiBeacon-1.5 which will stop Win10 from changing your privacy settings every time it automatically updates.

Hope this post will help others looking to find a solution to the OP. Compromise is no solution and so I leave this thread unsolved.

Peace
