Trying to OC 900 TB

I have never OC'd a chip besides my graphics card, and that was using the software. Well I tried to OC my 900 Mhz TBird using my EpoX 8KTA+ (NOT 8KTA3+). I unlocked the chip and that seemed to work fine as the start up screen indicated 9.5 x 100 = 950 Mhz when i change the multiplier on the board. Windows would start up and all but as soon as Aol Instant Messenger loaded BAM! locked up. The Core Voltage was @ 1.475. I Tried upping it to 1.75 I think and still BAM! The chip never reached past 38C in temp. I also try 7.5 x 133 Mhz but that system wouldn't even POST. Anyone have any suggestions, I want to reach 1 Ghz if at all possible :) This is an older Tbird by the way. I got it the week the Tbirds were released last summer.

It's better to be pissed off than pissed on :)

Try increasing the FSB instead of screwing around with the multiplier. Also, Keep it at 1.75 volts- your going to need it there if you want to reach 1Ghz. I've managed to squeeze 960mhz at 1.73 volts- any higher than that and the system won't boot. Still- that's a little strange. You could just have a crappy chip. The way clock speeds are determined on CPU's is the stability of the chip... good chips are clocked at 1Ghz and higher, crappy ones at 700mhz-900mhz. It all depends on how well it was made. I must of gotten really lucky because my 800mhz T-bird can get up to 1.1Ghz.

i don't believe the EpoX 8KTA is KT133a... therefore, it'll be almost impossible to hit 115 mhz, let alone 133 mhz.
